At Sandberg Guitars, we’re driven by a passion for the timeless sound of vintage instruments—those beautifully worn-in guitars and basses that seem to sing with a voice shaped by decades of music. Our mission with our exclusive Vibration Treatment is to bring that same character, depth, and tonal maturity to newly built instruments, giving players the feel and sound of a well-loved classic right out of the case.

To replicate the natural aging process, each Vibration Treated instrument is carefully mounted to a custom-designed vibration rack , where it is exposed to sustained low-frequency bass tones for 100 continuous hours . These deep vibrations cause the wood fibers within the body and neck to subtly shift and settle— mimicking the physical changes that would naturally occur over years of playing . At a cellular level, the structure of the wood begins to respond, loosening up and adapting in a way that enhances resonance and responsiveness.

The result is clear: instruments treated with this method exhibit faster attack , greater sustain , and an overall warmth and liveliness that’s typically found only in aged vintage gear. Whether you’re playing clean tones, deep grooves, or overdriven textures, the sonic benefits are immediately noticeable.

The idea for this process was born from our development of the Masterpiece Aged line—where we handcraft instruments to not only look vintage but also to feel and sound as if they’ve already lived a musical life. We knew that a bass that looks old should sound old too, and so we sought inspiration from renowned violin makers, some of whom have used similar vibration techniques for decades to unlock the full tonal potential of new instruments.

To take this concept even further, we partnered with Akustik-Analyse-Service, specialists in acoustic optimization, to fine-tune every detail of the process. Their expertise has allowed us to refine the treatment for maximum tonal enhancement, ensuring each instrument delivers the rich, broken-in tone that musicians crave.
