For our aged series we have developed unique techniques and special varnishes.

These skills give our instruments a true long time used look and feel.
The very authentic looking aged series is available in three different versions.

The 4 Types of Aging

2 Hardcore Aged

4 Hardcore Aged Masterpiece

Soft Aged

This process gives the bass a gently worn look, mimicking the natural wear that occurs over years of playing. It adds character while maintaining most of the instrument’s original finish.

Our Soft Aged instruments will come slightly worn with some scratches and minor “damages” as if played for 10 years with careful presence on stage. The chrome hardware is slightly aged.

Hardcore Aged

For a more rugged, road-worn aesthetic, the Hardcore Aged process creates a finish that looks and feels like it’s been through countless gigs. It’s perfect for players who love a vintage vibe.

Our Hardcore Aged will appear heavily played with a worn surface, nicely tarnished metal parts, like a true player with 20 years of stage experience.

Hardcore Aged Reserve

Taking the aging process further, this finish simulates decades of heavy use, with more pronounced wear and tear. Each bass in this category is unique, telling its own story through its distressed appearance. Additionally, it comes with our Thermo Treatment included on the body.

Our Hardcore Reserve will appear heavily played with worn surfaces on the body, neck, sides, and fingerboard. Nicely tarnished metal parts and worn pickup covers, like a true player with 25 years of stage experience.

Hardcore Aged Masterpiece

The pinnacle of Sandberg’s aging techniques, Masterpiece basses are works of art. They feature the most detailed and intricate aging, done by experienced craftsmen, giving each bass a one-of-a-kind historical narrative. A key feature of the Masterpiece series is our Thermo Treatment and Vibration Treatment . The techniques age the wood, enhancing the sustain, attack and the stability of the bass. The result is a bass that sounds like it has been played for years, offering a rich, mature tone. The varnish on the masterpiece basses is thinner which allows the sound to vibrate more.

Our Masterpiece Aged instruments are so authentically aged that even experts have to take a third look. Body and neck show the patina of the past 30 years, the fretboard and pickup covers have marks from the strings, and on the backside of the neck, the coating has been played down to the wood, with the body looking like it has been stage-diving the major part of its live.
